Victoria L. Seewaldt, M.D.

Victoria Seewaldt, M.D. is an internationally recognized expert in translational research, which is an approach that seeks to produce more meaningful and applicable results. As an investigator continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since the year 2000, Dr. Seewaldt leads a program focused on early detection of aggressive cancers, where laboratory findings can be immediately utilized to develop improvements in early breast cancer detection, particularly for Black and Latino women. She is also currently a Multiple Principal Investigator of studies examining the interface between diabetes, metabolism, and cancer.

Dr. Seewaldt is a first-generation American and a strong advocate for women, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. In addition to her role as Chair of National Cancer Center’s Scientific Advisory Board, she also brings her leadership and expertise in early cancer detection, the science of health disparities, and translational research to serving as Chair of the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center Internal Advisory Board.
