SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
Rizwan Romee, M.D.
Dr. Rizwan Romee is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Oncologist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston. He leads the Romee Lab for NK Cell Gene Manipulation and Therapy and is a member investigator of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI).
His research centers on engineering immune cells including NK and other immune cells to enhance their anti-tumor activity and overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). His group pioneered clinical translation of cytokine-induced memory-like (CIML) NK cells and is advancing next-generation strategies including CAR-engineered NK cells and synthetic biology circuits. More recently, his team has developed living bacterial therapies capable of delivering immune-modulating biologics, such as cytokines, directly into the TME.
Dr. Romee also leads a translational NK cell program at DFCI, investigating CIML NK cells in combination with novel immunotherapies for patients with advanced hematologic and solid malignancies.
